Campfire Grille
Campfire Grill is a bar & grille right off of Greenville Highway in the Village of Flat Rock.
I went with the rents for a ‘Celebration of Life’ for Meatloaf, to eat some good food and celebrate Meaty's 11+ years being silly as heck.
Before our dinner, I ordered four dresses off SHEIN - for the big night, I wore the one that fit & donated the three others to the Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Store in honor of Meatloaf.
So anyway, back to Campfire.
This bar & grille is the perfect mix of camp & classy. Not too classy that you have to wear a pantsuit, but not too campy where you feel awkward because you can feel the intense accusatory stare of taxidermied animals that are hanging on the walls.
Campfire actually has walls adorned with vintage photos of Flat Rock & such.
In case you didn’t know - Flat Rock has been a popular spot for summer camps since the early 1900s.
Campfire has indoor and outdoor patio seating.
The grille has an extensive menu, with something for everyone. They also have a large selection of wine, beer, cocktails, and mocktails.
I ordered a mocktail & the staff made me a super delish one with hints of strawberries. I definitely had to take a second sip because it tasted like a real cocktail!
We ordered our entrees and then went around the table and said our favorite things about Meatloaf.
Mine was Meatloaf howling in his sleep. For about the past 5 years of so - Meatloaf used to randomly howl, waking me up from a deep slumber, putting the fear of death in me (the superstition goes that when a dog howls in their sleep; it’s a death omen).
He was also an avid recycler.
Shortly after our reminiscing of the Meatloaf days, our Rosemary Fries came out hot & fresh; we snacked on those while I went through Meatloaf’s album of 350+ photos of him (mainly in Halloween sweaters) and highlighted my favorite photos to the fam.
Our meals were delivered not too long after the Rosemary Straw Fries came out (which had the perfect amount of light salt & rosemary flavoring).
I had the Veggie Burger w/subbed Sourdough Bread - to veganize. FYI; the Veggie Burger is normally only on the lunch menu; however - the super gracious staff made an exception and let me order one for dinner.
Ok so the Campfire Veggie Burger is super filling & super tasty. It definitely gets an 11/10.
After dinner, we went to Jump off Rock to finish the evening off in celebratory style.
So hey, side note - Grief is real. We all deal differently - I chose to celebrate the joy Meatloaf brought to everyone over Veggie Burgers at Campfire. Meatloaf passed July 17th, and I certainly had my days where I layed in bed and cried for hours. That being said - YOU get to chose how you grieve & take however long it takes.
Note; the staff at Campfire is super cool, too & doesn’t seem to judge you if you’re simultaneously crying and laughing.
So what are you waiting for? Get over to Campfire Bar & Grille for some good eats & drinks. (Note; Campfire Grille isn’t reserved for celebrating the life of deceased BFFs - it’s also a great place to go if you’re just wanting to get out and have some fun.)
PS; there’s plenty of parking out front of GVL Hwy or more in the back - you’ll just walk up the stairs on the side of the grille.
